This CNN Anchor Gave Birth to Her Baby On the Bathroom Floor After a Surprise 13-Minute Labor

CNN anchor Kasie Hunt was scheduled to have a C-section on March 2, but her daughter had other plans. The 8 lb, 4 oz baby arrived on March 1 after a surprise 13-minute labor on Hunt’s bathroom floor, a representative for the chief national affairs analyst told PEOPLE.

Yup. Just like that.

Hunt and her husband Matthew Mario Rivera are now parents of two after welcoming Grey Hunt Rivera into the world — in quite an unbelievable fashion. The couple told PEOPLE their son Mars, 3 is already a proud big brother: “He can’t stop talking about his new baby sister.”

He probably can’t stop taking about her arrival, either. Hunt’s labor and delivery was so immediate that Rivera didn’t even have time to call the paramedics. Instead, he went into Super Dad mode, delivering his daughter on the family’s bathroom floor. Hunt said she and her husband are so grateful for the 911 operators and the DC Fire & EMS team.

“Step-by-step, they talked us through the incredibly intense moments right after she was born and as she took her first breaths,” the couple said. “Thank you to the firefighters and paramedics on the scene who treated mom and baby at home and then brought us safely to Sibley Hospital in Washington.”

“It’s a day we’ll never forget!”
