My moustache started growing at the age of 12 while nobody else in my class has a moustache even now. Should I be worried?
Thanks for your question. Many people have questions about how their body changes during puberty. For people born with male genitals (a penis and testicles) most people start going through puberty between age 9 to 13 years old. During puberty, the body goes through many changes, including:
- Increase in the size of the testicles and penis
- Getting taller
- More body hair (on the face, in your armpits, and in other places)
The timing of puberty and the timing of when you develop facial hair (like a moustache) depends on a lot of things, including genetics (traits you inherit), your nutrition, and your general health. If you are healthy, this likely means you are going through puberty on the early side and it is normal. If you notice any new physical symptoms or have other medical problems, it is a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider. They can let you know whether it is normal for you.
