Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas Reportedly Clashed Over Public Appearances After Their 2nd Baby
As Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’s divorce continues, insiders have been shedding light on some of the reasons the A-list couple might have split. One theory? That they clashed over attending public appearances after the birth of their second baby in July 2022.
Sources told TMZ that Jonas was “less than supportive” to Turner, who reportedly struggled after the birth of her second daughter. The outlet reported that Sophie “didn’t want to leave their home,” and “didn’t want to be photographed or go to events.”
Going to public events is a big part of a celebrity’s job, but as a mom in the throes of postpartum? I completely understand why she wouldn’t want to go out or be photographed. She probably just wanted to stay home and cuddle her newborn or take a nap — shouldn’t Jonas have understood this?
Apparently, the Game of Thrones alum put her feelings aside and did attend several events with Jonas. But a source told TMZ that there was one event where “Sophie made it clear she was uncomfortable and didn’t want to be there.” At another event after, the “Hesitate” singer attended and Turner didn’t. According to insiders, “Joe complained Sophie was MIA and felt she needed to get out more. It was clear to the people who were there and heard Joe … there was a strain in the relationship.”
Previously, a Jonas insider told TMZ that he filed for divorce because “She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.” A different source told MailOnline that Turner “regretted ‘missing out’ on her youthful, carefree years after tying the knot with him and having two children at a young age.”
This is in direct contrast to the other sources claiming that Turner didn’t go out enough. It’s also contradictory to an interview Turner gave during a lockdown appearance on Conan O’Brien. “I’m loving it. I’m an introvert, I’m a homebody,” she shared. “If I could stay at home all day, I would, so this is great for me.” She added that Jonas is “a real social butterfly,” adding, “I struggle to kind of, lock him down and have him just spend time with me. It’s like prison for him but it’s great for me.”
In an interview with Elle UK in May 2022 Turner talked about leaving the partying lifestyle of her youth behind now that she’s a mom. Turner said, “I used to be so rock ’n’ roll and spontaneous. I’m sure there’s a part of me that’s still like that, deep down. But becoming a mum, you just become way less cool. I’m like an old woman.”
“When my friends come around, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, you guys keep me so young,’” she added with a laugh. “We’re all only 25 or 26. I have to remind myself that I’m in my mid-twenties. I’m a child.”
She also talked about her desire to come home to her kids at night. “It’s difficult, because I’m someone who doesn’t like change. I like consistency and, with the job I have, it’s not attainable,” Turner said. “So, I move everything – my daughter, my entire house! There is no more staying in hotel rooms. We get a house and commit to it. I couldn’t not go home to my daughter at the end of the day.”
“Joe’s job is bouncing around from city to city every night,” she added. “I have a longer amount of time in one place, so it makes sense for me to have her with me.”
So while he’s out here complaining about watching his daughters “pretty much all of the time” over the last several months while Turner’s been filming in the U.K., we can’t help but wonder: is this the first time he’s ever had to be a parent at all?
These celebrity exes are getting co-parenting right.
