Woman loses nine stone in just nine months and reduces her risk of diabetes
Type 2 diabetes can be a 'devastating diagnosis' says expert
A mum said she has been “given back” her life after a dramatic weight loss that saw her shed an incredible nine stone in just nine months.
Christine Proudlove, from Cheshire, had been warned by doctors that she was likely to develop diabetes if she didn’t make some changes.
Spurred on by this, as well as other health issues, the pub and hotel worker decided it was time to make a change.
By sticking to The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan, the 44-year-old went from weighing 24st 12lbs to 15st 12lbs.
This diet is a personalised plan depending on your specific needs.

By signing up, Christine was allocated a consultant who designed her meal plan and provided meals and support.
Prior to her transformation mum-of-one Christine suffered with achy knees and back pain.
She also experienced various emergency visits to the hospital with health issues linked to her weight.
“I have a new energy that I did not know I possessed, words cannot describe how it has changed my life,” Christine told Express.co.uk .

“I walk, I go to the gym and more importantly, I am a mum that I never thought I could have been.”
Without losing the weight Christine was at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a serious and usually life-long condition.
Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, or the body’s cells do not react to insulin properly.
This causes blood sugar levels to become too high.
Compared to type 1 diabetes, type 2 is far more common and is usually caused by factors such as being overweight.
However, it can also be caused by a lack of exercise or genetics among other things.
To avoid developing diabetes, the NHS therefore recommends:
- Eating more healthily
- Losing weight if you are overweight or obese
- Exercising regularly.
Common signs of diabetes include feeling very thirsty, needing to urinate more frequently, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision and thrush.
If you experience symptoms or are concerned about your weight you should speak to your GP.
Christine said her weight loss not only aided her physical but her mental health.
“When it comes to mental health, I did not see before just what a negative impact my weight and lifestyle was having on me,” she added.
“I have a love of life that I don’t remember having before. This diet has given me back my life that I didn’t know I had lost.”
