The mouth is considered the mirror of one’s general health with poor oral habits impacting longevity more than many would know. Poor oral health could significantly increase a person’s risk of heart attacks or strokes. Oral cavities harbour billions of microorganisms, some of these contribute to the development or progression of systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, acetaminophen available in india diabetes. Inflammation in the body is another lesser-known big impactor for age-related diseases and longevity. Fortunately, a traditional Indian practice which can be simply done each morning not only improves oral health, but it can also reduce inflammation to help boost your longevity.
In a study published in the National Library of Health, oil pulling for reducing diseases and potentially extending longevity was analysed.
“Oil pulling is believed to cure more than thirty systemic diseases when practiced regularly and as directed,” began the study.
It continued: “Oil pulling in addition to offering several oral health benefits has also beneficial effects on overall health.
“Oil pulling generates antioxidants which damage the cell wall of microorganisms and kill them.
“In addition to maintaining oral hygiene it has been claimed to have systemic health benefits and cure systemic diseases.
“Oil pulling is also supposed to increase the metabolism of the body, heal the cells, tissues and organs of the body and improve longevity in human beings.”
Researchers also looked at how oil pulling helps with plaque induced gingivitis and periodontal diseases.
People with periodontal disease have two to three times the risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or other serious cardiovascular event.
Subjects performed oil pulling in early morning on an empty stomach in addition to their routine oral hygiene measures such as brushing and flossing.
Plaque and gingival indices significantly decreased after 30 days of oil pulling with researchers also observing a 50 percent decrease in gingival and plaque indices after four weeks.
It was concluded that oil pulling with coconut oil is helpful in decreasing plaque formation and plaque induced gingivitis further reducing a person’s risk of developing serious age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease.
Oil pulling has anti-inflammatory effects on the body.
The method is shown to help significantly reduce levels of inflammation in the body which is often linked to arthritis.
Research has shown that chronic inflammation is associated with heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Oil pulling may have a beneficial effect on these conditions linked to inflammation.
Two of the biggest benefits to oil pulling are how simple it is to do and how easily it can be incorporated into one’s daily regimen.
Additionally, it requires just one ingredient which can be found right in most kitchens, so there’s no need to buy anything.
Traditionally, sesame oil has been used for oil pulling, but coconut oil possesses stronger anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which can help to impact longevity and a reduction in age-related diseases.
