Clinical preparations are underway so that Boots can help the British government deliver on its promise to have 13 million people vaccinated by mid-February. In order to support the NHS, discussions are ongoing regarding Boots’ potential to expand its mass vaccination sites.
The aim is to have at least 1,000 patients vaccinated at each site per week.
Once the service is opened, patients will be provided the option to book their vaccination appointment through the NHS booking system.
The Managing Director of Boots UK and ROI, Seb James said: “Boots has already conducted over two million Covid-19 tests on behalf of the NHS and now we are proud to play our part in vaccinating the nation.

You should receive a letter by the NHS if you’re currently eligible for a vaccination (this is why your GP must have your up-to-date contact details).
The letter sent to your home will direct you to book your Covid-19 appointments online.
Both jabs will need to be booked at the same time online. Please note the second vaccination will happen 12 weeks after getting your first dose.
“Letters are being sent out every week – you might not get your letter straight away,” added the NHS.
What is to be expected at your appointment?
The appointment should take 30 to 45 minutes, which will include being checked in, answering questions about your medical history and having the jab.
You will be asked to wait around for 15 minutes following the vaccination; this is in the unlikely event you have a reaction to the vaccine.
As well as people aged 80 and over, eligible groups include those:
- Living in a care home for older adults
- A frontline health care worker
- A frontline social care worker
- A carer working in a care home for older residents
Public Health England added: “The Covid-19 vaccination is only available through the NHS to eligible groups and it is a free vaccination.”
Both the Oxford-AstraZeneca and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccinations have now been approved for use in the UK.
As more people become vaccinated, and people continue to follow lockdown rules, the end of the pandemic really is in sight.
The hopes of mass vaccination is to ease pressure off the NHS and to protect lives.
At present, current legislation on the new restrictions are in place until March 31.
