Watch Selena Gomez Create the Prettiest Makeup Look in Under 10 Minutes
Rare Beauty may have just hit the market, but Selena Gomez has been working on the brand for two years. Needless to say, in that time, she's mastered a number of makeup looks with her products, including a super simple, fresh-faced look that she can achieve in under 10 minutes. And much to our delight, she showed us how to do it.
Gomez took time out of Rare Beauty's launch day to film the fun tutorial in what she says is her very first "glam room." She explains that she usually starts out with her Always an Optimist 4-in-1 Prime & Set Mist. "It's basically got multiple ingredients in it to give you that refreshed look and to have moisture added on," she says explaining why it's ideal before foundation and to set makeup when she's all done.
Next, she uses her Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation, dotting it on with the doe-foot applicator so many Rare Beauty liquid products have. "What I'm going to do is lightly go over my skin," she says as she uses her Liquid Touch Foundation Brush to spread the foundation in circular motions. "And you can see that it just like melts and doesn't, like, feel super obnoxious or kind of caked in." She follows up with a similar dotting and spreading technique with her Liquid Touch Brightening Concealer and Liquid Touch Concealer Brush in key areas like under her eyes.
Gomez then applies her Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Bliss and Positive Light Liquid Luminizer high up on her cheekbones, blending in the former with the fingers and the latter with her Liquid Touch Multi-Tasking Sponge, which she says she's "so proud of."
After enhancing her brows with the Brow Harmony Pencil & Gel in Cool Brown, she moves on to her favorite part: lips. Specifically, she chooses the With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in Praise. "These are almost like a lip-balmy feel, and the more you use it, the more color you get," Gomez explains, showing how buildable the formula is.
Even though she loves the Rare Beauty products she's launched, Gomez still has room in her heart and makeup routine for other brands' makeup. She shares how she applies the Best of Beauty Award-winning Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer, as well as the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color — also a Best of Beauty winner.
"I think my relationship with makeup has gotten better since you know, all of this. I feel like, I think there's a point where you become, like, you need it. And I felt like if I didn't have it on, I wasn't pretty," Gomez says during the tutorial. But developing Rare Beauty over the last two years has changed that for her. "I've really started to understand that makeup is meant to be an accessory. It's not meant to be something that you need, and I definitely don't need it to feel pretty, but now I view it as something exciting to, you know, to get and explore and do things. And I feel more empowered being able to do my own makeup."
