I Tried An Infrared Sauna Blanket And This Is What Happened

While I’m no stranger to getting a good sweat on, with my partner and I being big fans of Hybrid HIIT sessions, I know that it’s also essential to spend time recovering. You need to give back to your body what you take from it- and I demand a lot from my body in terms of performance.

Stretching, myofascial release, messages and acupuncture are all great, but one of my new favourite methods is spending time in my MiHIGH infrared sauna blanket. Not only is it detoxifying and can help you burn excess calories, but I also find it to be relaxing for the mind as you can rest, meditate, listen to a podcast or do whatever you like while you spend time in it.

I have been using the MiHIGH infrared sauna blanket for close to a year now and this is what I have found.

Detoxifying

Whether you are working out, or consuming food and alcohol that is not the best for your body, your body can become inflamed. What infrared heat does is help you both heal and flush out the toxins by sweating all the nasties out of your body.

Infrared heat penetrates skin more efficiently than regular heat, meaning your body is able to flush out any toxins that wouldn’t usually get released in a regular sauna. Not only this, but when you’re detoxifying your body in the blanket, it also opens up your pores, cleaning and also glowing your skin. The combination of flushing out toxins, increasing heart rate, pumping blood around the body and reducing soreness from any injuries you have is also another benefit, which is why again, I can’t get enough of my sauna blanket. If I have had a big day of working out, I know that a quick sauna session will help my muscles recover properly and refrain me from injuries.

Zen

For me being ‘zen’ and getting to sleep can be a struggle, and I have found using a sauna blanket so helpful, as it helps me relax and unwind after a long day. If you’ve had a long day at work, or just looking to switch off for a while, then a sauna session is the best way to help release endorphins, otherwise known as ‘feel good hormones’. If you’d like to become more mindful and centered, then try adding in meditation while in the blanket or listening to calming music. You’ll come out feeling like you’ve just finished a long run or hot yoga session, and you’ll sleep like a baby.

Instead of being a hot little room, the at-home sauna looks like a giant heating pad that folds around your body.

Burns Calories

The MiHIGH Sauna Blanket can burn up to 600 calories in just one 45 minute session. I know, this may sound too good to be true, however it is possible when you’re doing a sauna session. It comes down to an increased heart rate, as the blanket heats up your body, your heart rate and blood flow also increases. The consistent increase in your heart rate is equivalent to the same physical benefits as gong for a 30 minute run.

Benefits of using a Sauna Regularly
