Wambach receives award from American Thoracic Society
Jennifer A. Wambach, MD, an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Division of Newborn Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the Robert B. Mellins, MD, Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Thoracic Society Pediatric Assembly.
The award honors Wambach’s research that focuses on rare genetic lung diseases in infants and children. Her research is aimed at understanding the genetics underlying these rare disorders and developing potential therapies to treat these conditions, which are often lethal without lung transplantation. Additionally, the award recognizes Wambach’s commitments to education and clinical care. She treats patients in the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Wambach also serves as a co-director of the medical school’s neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship program.
“Dr. Wambach is an exemplary role model for junior faculty, particularly women,” said Barbara B. Warner, MD, director of the Division of Newborn Medicine and a professor of pediatrics.
